Therapeutic Cupping

Cupping for Pain, Digestive and Immune Disorders

The principle of this effective treatment method is based on the effects of vacuum cups of various size and volumes on the biologically active points and different areas of the body. It boosts the immune system, normalizes capillary blood flow, improves tissue respiration and helps to stimulate the excretory functions of the skin.

A Traditional Chinese medical massage using vacuum cupping - is a highly effective therapeutic method that has constructive effects on the human body using special glass or plastic cups & vacuum that’s created by cooling heat or a pump. During the cupping massage a local negative pressure is created, forcing blood flow to the biologically active points (typically acupuncture points).

Vacuum therapy improves blood circulation and lymph drainage and reduces congestion of interstitial fluid in the tissues. Cupping massage improves metabolism and accelerates regeneration, eliminates toxins and harmful byproducts from the body. In the area where vacuum cups were set the increase in local blood flow will often produce light or dark marks, which will disappear within couple of weeks. Cupping massage also “sucks” our body’s biologically active substances that improve the metabolic and regenerative processes to the local tissues. The vacuum cupping technique normalizes the movement of vital energy through the channels of the body and decreases the Chi & Blood stagnation.

Vacuum Cupping Therapy can be very effective with such conditions as low back pain, muscle tension or general fatigue, the treatment of which usually requires complex approach. Cupping massage is also used in the treatment of asthma, hypertension, insomnia, constipation, obesity, muscular dystonia and various muscle spasms.

Cupping has no major side effects aside from minimal discomfort and some bruise marks due to the method of skin application. However most bruising will resolve within one or two weeks. Usually cupping is painless, but the treatment will stop if any discomfort is experienced. Felling of warmth or slight sweating is not unusual as a result of vasodilation.

In our clinic, Chinese medical vacuum cupping massage is usually used in conjunction with other therapeutic methods, such as acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, acupressure, ear-acupuncture, moxibustion, Tui-Na, Gua-Sha etc. This integrated approach provides the optimal results in the treatment of many diseases.

It’s highly recommended to drink plenty of fluids before and after each treatment to help move blood and fluid general massage may help to relieve some of the bruising.
